Addiction Treatment

"The area in north-western Costa Rica is just south of Ollie’s Point, a location named after Colonial Oliver North, where the arms for cocaine exchanges were made to smuggle arms into Nicaragua and cocaine into the United States.

Here, in Playa Hermosa , as in the United States, cocaine and alcohol addiction flourished as the guns were moved. My deepest concern is the spread of HIV through sexual intercourse in the young adults of America while under the influence of cocaine and alcohol .” Dr. Hershline

Congress to Probe Contra Cocaine Link: Mission Impeachable?

HOLISTIC CREATIVE RECOVERY CENTER (HCRC)

The mission of HCRC is to bring healthy natural food and activity, self-introspection and self-expression and the knowledge that the highest euphoria is experienced through a drug free mind-body experience.

The knowledge that acceptance is a process based on the ability to choose and to change if so desired, and the knowledge that the self-perceived euphoria during drug ingestion is a false internal perception caused by a decreased sensorium and decreased capability to process the mind-body experience allows complete, irrevocable mature sobriety

Thoughts on the HCRC process of recovery by Dr. Hershline

The recovery from cocaine and alcohol is possible and one hundred percent the only way. Today there is an increased pressure on our society to decrease risky sexual behavior because of the growing HIV pandemic. But, you as a human can not reach your full potential and accomplish your mission on our great planet Earth while being intoxicated. The euphoric rush caused by cocaine and other stimulants such as methamphetamine, is a self-absorbed sensation that is false. As a life experiment, while one hundred percent sober, observe anyone who is intoxicated with speed, cocaine and alcohol and you will see someone slobber, drool, speak incoherently, claim they are going to accomplish task impossible for them, become belligerent, abusive, intrusive, senseless, uncoordinated, incapable of euphoric producing complex thought, completely selfish in their desires, an incapable of reason – yet they will claim that they feel good and recollect only a false perceived euphoria. It is unexplainable to them but observable by you.

The HCRC support team and knowledge base reminds all of those seeking mature sobriety that the human differs from an animal only in the ability not to accept illicit drugs offered. Once the cocaine is ingested, smoked or snorted the chemical reaction associated with numbing and euphoric false perception begin. Once the initial affect wears off, a secondary wave of dysphoric false perception begins as the concentration of cocaine required to maintain anesthetic capability falls. Finally the state of normality will be obtained.

The mind-body now however must come to terms with a hypersensitivity reaction that the brain must pass thru until the neurons that have been exposed to the drug remodel their receptor activation pathways. The recovering person will become very sensitive to the presence of the drug. This may last from 3 months to one full year, but is very individualistic and somewhat psychosomatic, but real. As the trace amounts of the drug, drug metabolites, conjugated drug or small vesicles containing sequestered drug are released from the body thru exercise, weight loss, physical injury, mental stress, intellectual learning challenges such attending new school programs, problem solving, emotional stress or natural body-organ-cellular re-molding processes, these trace amounts are enough to stimulate the hypersensitive brain of the recovering user. If the same brain and body were exposed to these amounts, let’s say years later in recovery, or an unexposed person not having this drug hypersensitivity, nothing would happen. Chemical hypersensitivity reactions are well known. Therefore, understanding this allows the recovering person to realize that a false dysphoria is occurring, relate his experience to other humans, and faithfully accept mature sober euphoria to avoid using, realizing the sensation will pass and become less intense and shorter in duration as these events occur over time. Eventually, the normal peaks and valleys of the sober mature mind will again be identified and fear will leave. The personality of the human will finally be allowed to be expressed.
